PS3 will run Linux, and maybe other OSes
During a recent interview with Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutagari, he said that the PS3 (PlayStation 3) will not come with a pre-installed Hard Drive and it has to be purchased separately; the reason for this move according to him is that “no matter how much capacity we put in it, it won't be enough”.
But the exciting news is that the PS3’s HDD could come preinstalled with Linux OS, and he also said that the PS3 will be able to run other Operating Systems such as Windows or Mac OS X if the publishers want them to do so.
Also users could benefit from the Cell famous capability of running multiple OSes (Virtualization) in turning the PS3 Game machine into a Supercomputer capable of running the most demanding applications outside the realm of games.
Running Linux on PS3 mean that its architecture will be completely open, and programmers will be able to do anything with it.
I can’t even imagine how the enthusiastic community is going to benefit from this opportunity, but upon its release the PS3 will be the hottest gadget ever.

Honestly, I'm speechless. Wow... This sounds totally cool.. So much will this baby cost? An arm and a leg?? A pay of one century?? hehehe..
IT will probably cost between 400-500$, maybe less, it all depends on Microsoft's price of Xbox 360.
But anyway the price is nothing compared to PC with similar specs, the graphics card alone would cost about 400$.
i'm very EXCITED i have to get one soon i just love PS its one of the most amazing inventions in the life of gaming!!

You know? I never thought of it; no matter what it'll be cheaper than a PC. You're right.. Duh!! Especially that I just bought a new computer a couple of months ago and it cost me over $1000.
Yeah, gaming is sooooooo much fun. I love RPGs the most then comes fighting games then racing games. :D I haven't really played for years though. I miss it... Not to long ago a friend of mine and I were at the archades. Hehehe, Oh the fun we had... U know? I realized that I can be a good shooter. I aim perfectly. Hehehe. Yallah, I'll learn sniping now. :P
I'm a hardcore PC gamer, I never let any game pass me, like you RPGs are my favorite, then come shooters and everything else.
I generaly use consoles (currently PS2) to play fighting games with my brothers like Tekken, Soul Caliber, Virtua Fighter, because you can't find these gems on PC.
Ooooh, maybe I can burn some games off you. Hehehehe. I've been sooooooooo out of date.
Yeah tekken, I used to kick a** in that game.. hehehe. I love it. Bloody Roar is another one. Oh... I'm like dreaming to play all these games again. Hehehe... Now I need to get a PS2 or maybe wait for the PS3.
I have a HUGE library of games, I've never thrown away any game I bought, and I've been collecting games since 1995, so you can figure out how many I have, and I'd be more than happy to provide you with any game you want.
Maybe when we meet, we could challenge each other, see who's the best.
Hahahaha.. I love the idea my dear, but the problem is that I'm sooo out of practice... U'd probably beat me very easily.
I just imagine us, 2 adults playing video games hardcore. Hahahaha.. I love being a kid at heart. :P
